Jefferson V. DeAngelis, CFA ®
Chief Investment Officer and Partner
Prior to co-founding Northwest Passage Capital Advisors, Mr. DeAngelis was a Senior Vice Presi dent of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, where he also served as President of Mason Street Advisors and the Chief Investment Officer of the Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Co. Over the course of a 25 year career at Northwestern Mutual and affiliated entities, Mr. DeAngelis held increasingly senior roles managing NM's general account and directing overall investment strategy. As President of Mason Street Advisors, he led a team of 80 investment professionals managing $110 billion in public fixed income and equity securities. Prior to joining NM, Mr. DeAngelis was a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Putnam Investments and Van Kampen Investments, where he managed high-yield investments, fixed income and multi-asset portfolios. Mr. DeAngelis received his B.A. from Carroll College and his M.B.A. from Marquette University. He is a member of Institutional Investors Fixed Income Forum and has earned the right to use the CFA designation.
William C. Slaughter, CFA®
Senior Portfolio Manager and Partner
Before co-founding Northwest Passage Capital Advisors, Mr. Slaughter was most recently a Portfolio Manager at Stark Investments, a multi-strategy alternative investment firm which managed $15 billion in institutional capital. During a 9-year career at Stark, Mr. Slaughter traded emerging market fixed income portfolios, managed the firm's G10 FX book and provided strategic input on global macroeconomic developments as a voting member of the firm's 8 member Portfolio Committee. Prior to joining Stark, Mr. Slaughter was an Equity Research Analyst with Robert W. Baird & Co. and an investment banking associate with SPP Hambro & Co., a specialist in cross border private placement transactions. Mr. Slaughter is a High Honors graduate of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Analytic Finance and Macroeconomics. He received his B.A. from Harvard College, and holds an M.A. degree in Mathematics from the University of Alabama. He has earned the right to use the CFA designation.
Michael P. McGuire
Research Director and Partner
Before co-founding Northwest Passage Capital Advisors, Mr. McGuire was an analyst and trader at Stark Investments, where he had primary responsibility for trade execution, portfolio monitoring and real time risk reporting for the Global Macro desk. While at Stark, Mr. McGuire also managed his own cross asset trading book and contributed to the portfolio research efforts in sovereign credit, fixed income, equities, FX and commodities. He holds a B.A. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and a M.S. in Applied Economics from Marquette University. During his graduate studies, Mr. McGuire interned at Mason Street Advisors and the State of Wisconsin Investment Board.
Patrick T. Kennedy
Business Development and Partner
Mr. Kennedy spent over 25 years in institutional fixed-Income sales and sales management, most recently at Morgan Stanley where he was a Managing Director and head of the Chicago fixed-income office. He also served as Senior Relationship Manager for many large insurance and asset management clients. Mr. Kennedy had a similar role at his prior firm, Credit Suisse (CS), where he was a Managing Director with responsibility for the fixed-income offices in Chicago, Boston and Atlanta. During his time at CS, he also served as Head of Investment Grade Credit Sales in the U.S. He received his B.S. in Marketing and his M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
